I never want to stop someone from singing

I never want to laugh when they dance

I never want to tell a child he or she can’t draw

Or that poetry should have so many rules

If art is not everything,

Then art is nothing

If only a few can create, express and feel

Then how can anyone?

I don’t think there is any magic secret

For the magic to happen at all

From the high end galleries in New York

To the charcoal on a cave wall

Where Pollack dripped and splattered

And Dada chose not to matter

There is only one true freedom

That is the freedom of thought

And if one ever chains that

Then freedom we have not

I never want to comply to that

I never want to stop

That feeling of surrender

Victory and existential experience

That we can only call

Art
