Piano Problems

I took my piano mid-term yesterday playing, “When the Saints Come Marching In.” I did ok. I’m expecting piano to come more naturally to me because I’m an artist, but it isn’t working that way. It’s a discipline to learn the notes and hand placements. I used to think that young people think they know everything, but I’m learning that in my older age, it’s easier for elders to think we know everything especially if it’s outside our niche or areas of interest. I ran into this problem a lot when talking economics with my Mensa member and NASA scientist brother-in-law when he was alive. While he was truly a genius physicist, politics simply wasn’t his subject. Although I want to grab and go at piano and music as though it comes as naturally to me as art, I have to remember that at one point in my life I had to learn how to draw.
