Heaven in a Daydream

Art115

I saw heaven in a daydream

Angels dancing ladies singing

Babies shouting in the water

As the blessing came to be

Hear the music everlasting

Dance to the eternal beat

There I saw you in the mystery

As the prophets came to speak

If you go there can you tell me

What it means this fantasy?

In the bright side of creation

You will find this fascination

Ever glowing ever meaning

That which is the truth of life

Take the song and take to reason

See the art and hear the music

On your way it will be waiting

Sing the word and never die

Piano Problems

I took my piano mid-term yesterday playing, “When the Saints Come Marching In.” I did ok. I’m expecting piano to come more naturally to me because I’m an artist, but it isn’t working that way. It’s a discipline to learn the notes and hand placements. I used to think that young people think they know everything, but I’m learning that in my older age, it’s easier for elders to think we know everything especially if it’s outside our niche or areas of interest. I ran into this problem a lot when talking economics with my Mensa member and NASA scientist brother-in-law when he was alive. While he was truly a genius physicist, politics simply wasn’t his subject. Although I want to grab and go at piano and music as though it comes as naturally to me as art, I have to remember that at one point in my life I had to learn how to draw.

The Thorazine Shuffle

Chords: G Em C D

Seventeen hours in isolation

Strapped to a bed with leather braces

Plastic sheets leaking urine

Lost my place in this confusion

Said to the nurse it’s a violation

Of my rights for sanitation

She shot me up and now I’m found

Pacing staring at the ground

Walking, walking back and forth

At the speed of a grandpa’s Ford

Can’t talk now my brain is muffled

I’m just doing the Thorazine Shuffle

With a Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!

Woo!

Feeling calm and oh so peaceful

Slower Slower my stream of conscience

All five senses like a mule

Holy Crap I’m starting to drool

Walking, walking back and forth

At the speed of a grandpa’s Ford

Can’t talk now my brain is muffled

I’m just doing the Thorazine Shuffle

With a Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!

Woo!

Days go by I cannot think

Would’ve done better with a drink

How can they call this therapy?

This medicinal lobotomy?

Walking, walking back and forth

At the speed of a grandpa’s Ford

Can’t talk now my brain is muffled

I’m just doing the Thorazine Shuffle

With a Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!

Woo!

The doctor says it’s time to leave

Is this really what freedom means?

Got lost leaving, walked right back in

I ain’t never gonna piss off that nurse again!

A Bird Called Fascination

Chords: F G C

A bird called fascination

A feathered sensation

Flying relaxation

A lustful meditation

A freedom of his flight

Set forth amidst the night

Make everything alright

Without the sun so bright

I want to tell you something

The journey is the meaning

How high you climb the mountain

Take time when climbing down again

Feel free in what you learn in life

And take from every moment

Remember every amity

Amend the harm of every strife

When older you’ll remember then

The people you’ll have known

The places you’ll have been

Look back with truth with no regrets

Freedom never forgets

Says a bird called fascination

Mrs. B.

Chords: A A7 D C D G D

I like to wait till she comes home

And talk to her on the telephone

That’s our time she spends with me

We like to go to the movie show

Don’t care who pays, we don’t know

She’s my best friend good enough for me

Have you got that Mrs. B.?

Look at me! Look at me!

I like to do what she likes to do

And she’s like me and not like you

And you’re telling me what to do?

Have you got that Mrs. B.?

Look at me! Look at me!

I like her cause she’s beautiful

And she likes me cause I want her to

But I’ve heard you and he are through

Have you got that Mrs. B.?

Look at me! Look at me!

I like love cause it makes me feel good

And that’s the way God says it should

Do you love anybody Mrs. B.?

Have you got that Mrs. B.?

Look at me! Look at me!

I like to wait till she comes home

And talk to her on the telephone

That’s our time she spends with me

Have you got that Mrs. B.?

Look at me! Look at me!

The Dollar and The Devil

I’m tired of winning to lose

I try my best

But whatcha gonna do

The dollar and the devil

Are beating my soul

Can’t buy my heaven

Or cash in when I’m old

All my thoughts about her

Are pennies in the well

The dollar and the devil

Are walking me to Hell

The commandment of the family

Only curses my name

The dollar and the devil

Are playing their game

Oh Jesus can’t you help me

I am a poor man too

But the dollar and the devil

Crucified you

I’m tired of winning to lose

I try my best

But whatcha gonna do

The dollar and the devil

Are beating my soul

Can’t buy my heaven

Or cash in when I’m old
